Annual Rush Creek Cleanup > Saturday, June 17, 2017

Annual  Rush Creek  Cleanup

On Saturday June 17 2017 Streamborn Fly Fishing Club will hold its 11th annual Rush Creek clean-up.

We will be picking up trash from the beginning of Rush Creek at the Southern California Edison Power plant downstream Including the shoreline of Silver Lake all the way down to Grant Lake.

We will also clean up the highway past Grant lake down to US 395. We will meet in the parking lot of Silver lake boat ramp at 8:00am for a safety meeting and instructions. I am asking all volunteers to bring gloves,a hat and sun glasses.

Trash bags and bug repellent will be provided by Silver Lake. Clean-up in past years was over by 11:30 am.

Silver Lake Resort will provide  a free bar-b-que lunch for all volunteers after the clean up.

If anyone has questions they can call Joe Lemire 909-609-1101.

Rush Creek is a 27.2-mile-long (43.8 km) creek in California on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, running east and then northeast to Mono Lake. Rush Creek is the largest stream in the Mono Basin, carrying 41% of the total runoff.

Mono County / Rush Creek link:

The largest watershed in Mono County, Rush Creek is also one of the most popular fisheries in the state.

The nearly 30 mile-long creek begins as High Sierra snowmelt and runs down to June Lake, past Gull, Silver and Grant Lakes, and into Mono Lake. Rush Creek not only carves it way through the beauty of the “Switzerland of the Sierra,” as the June Lake Loop is called, it is also home to plenty of truly world-class trout fishing.

Livingston Montana was the gathering place as fly fishers from around the world descended on the city in early August 2016 to take part in the International Fly Fishing Fair. The week-long event brought some of the best fly fishers in the sport together to share their skills and learn new ones. A group representing Fishing Vision LTD attended and filmed portions of the event so that others in Japan and around the world could learn about the many activities of the International Federation of Fly Fishers.
